Ciliaris Wildlife is an owner-run operation that tailors every safari to our clients' needs. We are located in the Thabazimbi–Matlabas area, the most abundant wildlife hunting region in South Africa.

Our team has been active in all facets of the wildlife industry since 2004, from game breeding and management to professional hunting and hospitality.

Tailored trophy hunts of international quality

Each safari is planned around the hunter: the species, the trophy quality, the length of stay and the pace. Every hunt is guided by a professional hunter, with trackers and skinners in the field.

The species marked on Ciliaris roam our own ground. Every other species on our list can be hunted through our network of neighbouring properties in the Thabazimbi area.

Five rooms around a shaded lawn, pool and boma. Every stay is fully catered by our resident chef, with a bar for the evenings, daily laundry and unlimited Wi-Fi throughout.

The land

Sweetveld on Kalahari sand

Ciliaris lies in one of the best hunting areas in South Africa, on the same sweet grass that has produced some of the country's biggest plains game trophies.

The veld

Deep sandy soils with camelthorn and sweet grasses. Game holds condition well through the dry season.

Water

Boreholes, including a solar pump, feed troughs across the hunting areas.

Conservation

Aardvark are resident. Cape vultures from Marakele National Park, 30 km away, feed on offal from our skinning shed at a dedicated site.

Cenchrus ciliaris Our name comes from blue buffalo grass (bloubuffelsgras), one of the most palatable and drought-hardy grasses of the bushveld.
Season

When to come

The dry winter months are the main season: cool mornings, thin cover and game on the move. The herds rest in early summer while the young are born.
